Arsenal will be looking to build on their result at Anfield when Southampton visit the Emirates on Saturday.
The Gunners impressive 2-0 victory over Liverpool finally gave the fans something to cheer, having being previously held to goalless draws against Sunderland and Stoke.
But Wenger’s men found their range at Anfield, with new boys Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla grabbing their first goals for their new clubs, as Arsenal ended up running out comfortable winners.
Cazorla, a £16 million recruit from Malaga is really impressing in his new surroundings.
“They paid a lot of money for me and the role they have given me is the one that I like,” the Spanish international said.
“I am not finding it hard to adapt. I like the way the team plays.
“Wenger’s philosophy is to have control of the game and I like being in contact with the ball. The boss is putting me in a position behind the striker with all the freedom that I like to have.”
Arsenal have a clean bill of health ahead of Southampton’s visit, and look set to welcome back first choice goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.
Southampton have yet to pick up a point this season, but are not to be taken lightly, having pushed both Manchester City and Manchester United to the wire already this season.
Nigel Adkins men have been heroic losers so far this campaign, suffering a particularly heartbreaking defeat to Sir Alex Ferguson’s men in their last outing, with two late Robin Van Persie strikes turning victory into defeat.
Southampton can also take comfort from the fact their last trip to London to face Arsenal in the Premier League resulted in a 2-2 draw.
Adam Lallana is expected to start having been called up to the England squad for the first time in midweek.
Prediction: Arsenal 2-1 Southampton
