da spicy bet: Wolves announced the long-awaited signing of Olympiacos winger Daniel Podence early on Thursday morning, and according to The Athletic correspondent Tim Spiers, their business isn’t done just yet.
da wazamba: The Portuguese winger has joined the west Midlands club in a £16.9m deal, after scoring five goals and providing five assists in 27 appearances per Transfermarkt, and has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract.
He will provide vital depth to Nuno Santo’s wide areas, most notably on the right as Adama Traore now has a backup option.
However, they are still working on deals to bring in a new striker to play second fiddle to Raul Jimenez – speaking in a Q&A this afternoon, Spiers replied to a question about the potential of any late deal(s).
He said:
“Working on several targets I’m told Matt and hoping to bring someone in, but no guarantee. Nelson Oliveira remains a back-up option – he’s there for £5.5m if Wolves want to pay his release clause.”
Tim Spiers, The Athletic.
It appears as if Wolves have been rather stubborn in trying to clinch former Norwich City frontman, Nelson Oliveira, especially if he’s available for only £5.5m as you aren’t going to get a better deal for someone that is going to be a rotational option at most.
The Daily Mail reported that AEK Athens, his current club, were left frustrated after their latest offer of €4.5m (£3.8m).

There are a little over 24 hours remaining in the window, so Wolves are pushed to get any deal over the line. They can’t afford to go into February relying on their one fit senior striker as an injury to him could write off their chances of reasonable success this term.
