da apostaganha: Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen was somewhat fortunate to have such a match-altering impact against Wolves on Sunday.
On the chalkboard
da bet nacional: The Belgian was deployed at left-back by Jose Mourinho against Nuno Espirito Santo’s men, meaning that he was matched up against Adama Traore throughout the 90 minutes.
Of course, he scored the winning goal in injury time, stooping to head home Christian Eriksen’s corner and hand Spurs all three points.
Per WhoScored, though, he had something of a torrid time versus the Wolves winger.
He won three tackles throughout the 90 minutes but attempted six, while he was dribbled past on three occasions.

Traore actually scored Wolves’ goal, slamming a strike home from outside the box, but Vertonghen backed off him, refusing to make a tackle for fear of conceding a foul.
The Spurs man did win five aerial duels, more than any other player on the pitch, though he managed a pass success rate of just 68%, the second-lowest of Spurs’ starting XI.
Unfortunately, Vertonghen was also dispossessed once.
Who is that?! Can you name all of these obscure Spurs signings? Give it a go now…
Everyone will forget
Vertonghen is lucky that he was the man on the end of Christian Eriksen’s sublime corner, sending an excellent header into the bottom corner in injury time.
He has subsequently seized control of the narrative after his disappointing display at full-back.
Traore, really, bullied him throughout the 90 minutes and capped a supreme performance with an excellent goal.
Vertonghen’s strike, though, gives him an escape route and confirms that, in the history books, it will merely show that he was the player to win the game.
Prior to that header, he was one of Spurs’ worst players and one thing is for sure: He won’t want to play against Traore again anytime soon.
Meanwhile, another Spurs man has been hailed by manager Jose Mourinho.
