da blaze casino: Brendan Rodgers believes the indecent chants and taunts from a minority of supporters should not overshadow the tributes paid to the Hillsborough victims at Anfield yesterday, The Independent reports.
da dobrowin: It was a game which United won 2-1, but it was the events before the action unfolded that rightly took centre-stage on the day.
Liverpool remembered the lives of those who perished by showing a mosaic that read, “Justice”, “96” and “The Truth”, on separate stands, while Manchester United paid their own tribute as Sir Bobby Charlton presented a wreath to Ian Rush to remember those who died.
Despite the moving events taking place on the pitch, there were a number of unsavoury events which took place during and after the match.
A section of the away fans started chanting songs relating to the stadium tragedy in response to a couple of Liverpool supporters making aeroplane gestures, referring to the Munich air disaster.
The Liverpool Manager admitted he had not heard the indecent chants and could not comment on some of the rude gestures made during the game.
Rodgers said: “The fight will go on if there is a continuation of that but certainly at this club the work that has gone on in the last couple of weeks is something I am very proud of and the tributes today were fantastic.”
In contrast, the respect between both sets of players was evident to see, with Luis Suarez and Patrice Evra putting their personal differences aside to shake each other’s hands in the usual pre-match routine.
Evra felt it would be disrespectful to take the attention away from the tragedy.
He said: “The most important thing today was respect. It was a game between two big clubs.
“In the end I am glad this time he shook my hand. More importantly, it was important to respect the families. It was not an easy day.”
