After arriving from Swiss side Basel for £8m last summer, Albian Ajeti hasn’t exactly hit the ground running at the London Stadium.
The 22-year-old has had his fair share of opportunities in his debut campaign in English football, making 13 appearances across all competitions. However, the Switzerland international has just the two goals and two assists to show for it.
Against West Brom in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday afternoon, Ajeti was given the chance to start alongside fellow summer arrival Sebastien Haller. However, the pair didn’t seem to have their shooting boots on, failing to hit the back of the net as the Hammers bowed out of the competition.

And after seeing Ajeti’s display in particular, West Ham fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the 6 foot striker, with a few very critical of him.
A few fans compared his performance to what Haller produced, and suggested that his work rate and movement of the ball is what makes him stand out.
A couple of Hammers supporters insisted Ajeti has got to start in their next game, with one fan in particular urging for him to line up alongside Michail Antonio.
Whilst it is certainly too early to call him a flop or a potential write-off, Ajeti’s goal-record this season doesn’t paint a particularly bright future for him. And with Haller costing a club-record £45m, the Swiss ace will no doubt be aware that his new teammate will likely be the one who is afforded every opportunity to succeed.

Chances like the game against West Brom represent the perfect time for Ajeti to prove his worth to David Moyes. But if he continues to not take them, then his career at the London Stadium may well be a very short one.
Meanwhile, West Ham hold an interest in bringing back this former star.
