Find out as we take you through all the big moments you might have missed on a busy night of Carabao Cup action.
Demarai Gray Injury
The all-Premier League meeting between Wolves and Leicester City was a painful watch for many as the game ended 0-0, with Leicester eventually winning on penalties.
However, Foxes forward Demarai Gray was in even more pain as he was stretchered off with a suspected broken ankle. The Englishman received gas and air on the pitch in stoppage time and many expected the worst.
Thankfully Gray took to social media to give fans hope of a quick return, with the injury not as bad as first thought:
“Happy we progressed into the next round! Injury’s not as bad as first thought, hopefully I’ll be back in no time! Thanks for the messages.”
Harry Wilson’s Free Kick
When Juan Mata scored in third minute, you could have been forgiven for expecting Man United to run riot against Derby at Old Trafford.
But Derby responded well and found themselves level on the hour mark thanks to an incredible free-kick from Harry Wilson.
From a full 30-yards out, Liverpool loanee Wilson left Sergio Romero flat-footed as the ball dipped and swerved into the top corner.
Romero Doesn’t Know The Rules
With the side’s level, it was actually Derby that were looking the more likely to score the winner and they were given a boost when Sergio Romero handled outside his area with Harry Wilson through on goal.
The referee had no option but to send the Argentine off, but it seemed like Phil Jones had to remind Romero that he had to leave the field!
Jack Rodwell Played
For the first in what seems forever (370 days), Jack Rodwell started a competitive professional football fixture as he was announced in Blackburn’s starting line-up for their game against Bournemouth.
His cameo in a defensive role ended early as he was brought off after 60 minutes with Rovers losing 2-0.
Rovers then made a comeback in his absence thanks to goals from Chris Conway and Adam Armstrong, read into that what you will.
VAR Used
Derby new boy Jack Marriott pounced in the 85th minute to give the Rams a 2-1 lead but was made to wait for the referee to officially award the goal.
That’s because VAR is being used in the Carabao Cup this season at matches played at Premier League grounds, so referee Stuart Attwell wanted to double check a potential offside decision.
Phil Jones Penalty Heartache
Thanks to a last minute Marouane Fellaini equaliser, United’s blushes were saved as the game went into penalties.
However, after 15 successful spot-kicks, Phil Jones stepped and fluffed his line spectacularly to send Derby through.
