da bet vitoria: According to reports in The Sun on Sunday, Manchester United are lining up a £136m double move for Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale and Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann.
What’s the word, then?
da bwin: Well, The Sun on Sunday says that Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho hasn’t been out off making a move for Bale despite his injury problems and the fact that he has missed 40% of Real’s games since joining them from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013.
Meanwhile, The Sun on Sunday also says they have also reopened talks with Atletico over a deal for long-term target Griezmann, with representatives from both clubs meeting to discuss a potential move during the international break.
The report adds that Spurs have first refusal on a deal to bring Bale back to the Premier League, and it is a transfer that could happen sooner rather than later seeing as the 28-year-old isn’t a popular figure among the Bernabeu faithful.
Why does Mourinho want the duo?
Despite Bale’s injury problems, the Wales international has scored 70 goals in 159 games for the La Liga giants and he would add some much-needed pace, strength and directness across the frontline for the Red Devils.

Meanwhile, Griezmann has endured a disappointing start to the season by his own estimations but his record of 86 goals in 173 outings in all competitions for Atletico – as well as 19 goals in 49 caps for France – has seemingly convinced Mourinho that he could add a new dimension to his side’s attack.
Could they really sign both?
It’s difficult to say.
Considering they already have the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku it would be hard to argue that they need both, but if Mourinho believes they could make a significant difference it could happen.
Both players would want regular first-team football and probably guaranteed starts though, and it could leave the Portuguese boss with a selection headache and perhaps even having to change his current preferred 4-2-3-1 formation.
What does seem far more unlikely however is that United could buy both for £136m, considering some of the transfer prices we have seen banded about in the last year or so.
