da betway: Liverpool are set to have Anfield sensation Mohammed Salah back on offer for Saturday’s trip to Huddersfield.
da imperador bet: The Egyptian that set the Premier League alight and pushed Tottenham’s Harry Kane out his way on route to the golden boot last season has so far failed to hit the ground running for his club in his second campaign on Merseyside.
For country, the story has been different with three goals in his last two international outings, including finding the net in Egypt’s 4-1 win over Swaziland last Friday.
Despite seeing out all 90 minutes in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, Salah later withdrew from his country’s squad, noting a thigh injury.
Early signs are promising for the Reds back at home, though, as a preliminary diagnosis showed no evidence of a tear. But Salah will still face further monitoring at Liverpool’s Melwood training ground before a decision is made over the winger’s inclusion against Huddersfield.
Premier Injuries currently list Salah as returning on October 20, the day of the Huddersfield match, with a 75% chance of featuring at the John Smith’s Stadium.
A necessary addition?
With Huddersfield currently winless in the Premier League and just a single point away from rock bottom, there is a strong argument against including Salah in the fixture in order to avoid any risk of aggravating the thigh strain.
The Reds have more than enough strength in their ranks to overcome whatever Huddersfield can put in front of them, so the addition of last season’s top goal scorer is not warranted with Champions League ties against Red Star Belgrade and a trip to the Emirates to face Arsenal leaving little chance for rest before the next international break.
Sturridge has a chance to step up
Daniel Sturridge has found a new lease of life to recover form that looked to be lost while on loan at West Bromwich Albion.
Four goals in nine competitive appearances under Jurgen Klopp this season has seen the 29-year-old forward return to the German’s plans on Merseyside and he could be in line for a first Premier League start should Salah be rested.
A strong performance could also see the former England international move ahead of Salah and Brazil’s Roberto Firmino on goals scored this term.
