da apostaganha: West Bromwich Albion defender Kyle Bartley continues to impress, so much so that their victory over Hull City on Saturday was hugely down to him, according to BirminghamLive reporter Joseph Chapman.
What’s he said?
The Baggies continued their run at the top of the Championship with a resilient 1-0 win at the KCOM Stadium.

It was also the first time this season that Albion have recorded back-to-back clean sheets, which will come as a major positive to Slaven Bilic considering it took until game week nine to pick up their first and that was against the ten men of Queens Park Rangers.
Jake Livermore’s 25-yard strike was enough to hand the visitors all three points, but it was Bartley drawing the plaudits from those in the media post-game.
In his ratings column, Chapman said:
“A colossus. Again!
One dramatic diving header to divert danger as Hull pressed was particularly courageous and very effective.
Generally very composed in the face of the ever dangerous Bowen.
A big, big reason why Albion won this game.”
Bilic impact
Bartley has always been a marmite figure at the Hawthorns since joining the club in the summer of 2018, but this latest performance shows why that attitude may be beginning to change.
Which would be a huge mark on the Croatian’s impact at the club as he’s managed to transform the 28-year old into an integral player for West Brom, especially as he’s been keeping Ahmed Hegazi out the side after his return from injury.
Last weekend, Bartley was singled out for praise by some members of the Albion faithful and now the wider media are starting to hype him up so he must be doing something right.
Per WhoScored, the centre-back has improved on his numbers defensively – he’s averaging more clearances (4.3) and blocks (0.9) per game, so it’s clear to see that Bilic has definitely had an impact already on Bartley.
