da premier bet: According to Calciomercato, West Ham are interested in Napoli winger Hirving Lozano.
What’s the story?
da 888: As per the report, the Hammers are eyeing the 24-year-old, who only joined Napoli last summer. With a contract until 2024, he is not the only Premier League side said to be in pursuit – Wolves are also mentioned.
Untapped potential
It was only last year that Lozano made the switch from PSV to the Serie A outfit for £38.5m, but it has not been a successful move so far. In 28 matches, he has just three goals and two assists, and he has played only 50 minutes in the Italian top flight in 2020.
Gennaro Gattuso, the Napoli manager, has even indicated that he is far from being a regular member of his starting XI, which leaves Lozano in a difficult position. Should he fail to change his boss’ mind before the end of the campaign, he may very well be out of the door before the new season kicks off in earnest.

Here, though, is a player with bags of potential. Last season, he scored a huge 21 goals for PSV from the wing, also providing 11 assists. The term before that, he managed 19 goals and 11 assists, proving himself to be one of the best players in the Eredivisie.
He has also impressed on the world stage for his country too. In 39 caps, he has ten goals, one of which came against then world champions Germany at the 2018 World Cup. With over two key passes and two dribbles per match in the Netherlands’ top-flight during his two campaigns there, Lozano proved himself to be electric.
Despite spending more to sign Sebastien Haller, £38.5m would still be a big fee for West Ham if Napoli look to recoup their transfer fee. However, his poor displays this term could see them be content with a slightly smaller price in the same ball-park. Per Transfermarkt, he’s currently rated at £31.5m.
Even if they do not want to make a loss though, it would be a move worth considering – the Hammers could be the side to tap into his yet unfulfilled talent in the top leagues in Europe.
Meanwhile, the Irons must make another move for this former Manchester City man.
